LUUMS COMPOSERS COLLECTIVE
LUUMS Composers Collective offers a platform for any student to compose music, have their work performed each term in concert showcases and gigs, and spend time with other composers. We welcome all musical styles from string quartets and choral works, to singer-songwriters and experimental electronic pieces.
We are a very social and collaborative society and often work together on pieces, which has become a fun way of getting to know each other and learn more about composition. We recently collaborated with MME Society (Music Multimedia and Electronics) for a casual gig at Hyde Park Book Club. Of course, we also work with the wonderful performers from LUUMS so that our pieces can become a reality.
We meet every Wednesday afternoon from 3-5 pm in the School of Music to discuss new pieces, music we're passionate about, and of course, to compose! We also arrange socials such as trips to Old Bar, as well as the annual trip to the world-renowned Huddersfield Contemporary Musical Festival each November. There are also plenty of wider LUUMS socials, which is a great way to meet like-minded people and potentially those who will perform your music!

Aaron Harrex
Manager
Aaron is a first Masters’ student in the School of Music, having moved to Leeds after graduating from Cardiff University. As a composer, his interests include serial music and electroacoustic composition – with a particular interest in experimental performance techniques. Aaron has also begun to compose for films, alongside being a keen jazz bass player. He is excited for the opportunity to work with a range of other composers and help to support the community here in Leeds!

Mia Windsor
Manager
Mia is a third year BA Music student who specialises in composition and music technology (specifically computer music). She has had experimental pieces performed in composers' concerts for two years now (both acoustic and electronic) and has enjoyed collaborating with other composers. Though Mia really enjoys the concert hall concerts, she’s really excited about re-organising HATCH (composers’ ensembles’ casual gig at Hyde Park Book Club) so that composers can have works performed in a free and relaxed environment.
