LUUMS Chorus is an open ensemble within the society and we welcome anyone who loves to sing. The choir is not auditioned, just simply come along to our give it a go session! Chorus showcases a variety of music including contemporary choral pieces such as Whitacre, and choral arrangements of Pop, Rock, and show tunes. Last year our repertoire included the classic ‘Africa’  by Toto, ‘September’ by Earth, Wind and Fire, ‘Royals’ by Lorde and various gospel arrangements. We have similar ideas for this year, including pieces by ABBA. Chorus prides itself on being an inclusive community of singers, so we always support ideas or suggestions from members of the choir.

There are a variety of socials planned for this year including; the traditional post rehearsal social at Old Bar, nights out and food related fun. There’s also the regular LUUMS socials! Chorus performs in termly LUUMS concerts.

Rehearsals have now started but don't worry if you have missed the first couple - feel free to come along and sing; it's a sure way of beating those Monday blues!

Join our Facebook group if you would like to come along.

Mondays 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Beth Garlick

Beth is a 2nd year Film, Photography and Media student, who joined Chorus in her first year and had also been in choirs throughout school. She loved it so much that she thought taking on the role as manager would be a fun and beneficial experience. Chorus gave her the opportunity to continue her passion for singing, whilst also having a lot of fun in a laid-back and friendly environment with wonderful people. Her aim this year is to continue the open and friendly attitude she was surrounded with last year as well as ensuring a wide range of genres in our song selection to suit everyone’s individual taste. She is excited to see where the year takes us as a group and is more than happy to chat with anyone who may have any questions or recommendations for the ensemble!

Izzy Sebire

is a third year music student and is thrilled to be chosen to conduct chorus this year. She is excited to add to her conducting experience with this enthusiastic and friendly choir. Having sung choral music from the age of 6 and performed all over Europe, she is excited to apply these techniques to Chorus this year. This year will include a wide variety of styles from Eric Whitacre to Stevie Wonder. Izzy welcomes all singers whatever their ability to come along, make friends and have fun.

Tallie Cooper

is a 2nd year Music student and will be a manager of Chorus this year. She joined chorus in her first year having little experience of singing in a choir but fell in love with the friendly atmosphere immediately. She can't wait to have a sing-a-long with old and new members and to organise socials throughout the year!!
