LUUMS Chorus is an open ensemble within the society and we welcome anyone who loves to sing. The choir is not auditioned, just simply come along to one of our ‘give it a go’ sessions!

Chorus showcases a wide variety of music, so there is something for everyone. Last year our repertoire included Gospel songs like ‘Joyful, Joyful’ and ‘His Eye Is On The Sparrow’ as well as Disney classics like ‘Reflection’ from Mulan, and songs from films like ‘May It Be’ from The Lord Of The Rings’ and even the James Bond title song ‘Skyfall’. This year we have some exciting plans to explore some more Choral, Pop, Rock, and Show-tune arrangements - so come along to find out! Chorus also prides itself on being an inclusive community of singers, so we always support ideas or suggestions from members of the choir.

There are a variety of socials planned for this year including; the traditional post rehearsal social at Old Bar, nights out and food related fun. There’s also the regular LUUMS socials! Chorus performs in termly LUUMS concerts and we are looking to collaborate with other ensembles this year too.

Rehearsals are every Monday at 5.30-7.30, please feel free to come along, join in and sing; it's a sure way of beating those Monday blues!

Join our Facebook group if you would like to come along.

Come along to our TASTER SESSION on the 28th of September!

Mondays 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Jessica Hazelwood

Jess is a 3rd year Music and Music Psychology student and is very excited to be elected as one of the new Chorus managers. Jess has been involved in Chorus since her first year and has always had a passion for singing, being part of, and organising, several choirs before coming to Leeds. She has also managed charity concerts and mini festivals back home and often volunteers with LUUMIC, running music activities and workshops in schools and care homes. Jess hopes to organise some more performance opportunities for Chorus and is looking forward to working closely with Molly and Alice to make sure the choir continues to be a welcoming and enjoyable ensemble to be a part of!

Molly Rigby

Molly is a second year Music student from Oxford. She loved being involved in LUUMS Chorus in her first year and is even more excited to conduct it this year. She has been in choirs since the age of 12 and has sung with Choirs in the Royal Albert Hall and Oxford Town Hall, as well as teaching a secondary school choir and a primary school choir. She similarly has backing vocal experience, performing at ‘The Other Palace’ in London and Wilderness Festival. Molly is excited to be able to introduce more of a social aspect to the ensemble in order to break the ice, ensuring Chorus provides a friendly and welcoming environment for newcomers and returners. She is excited for the chance to lead a choir again and enhance her conducting skills!

Alice Waters

Alice is a second year BA Music student who lives on the Isle of Man. She has been playing the piano from the age of five and since Alice was eight she has been in some form of musical ensemble, whether it was singing in choirs, playing sax in a big band or cello in the Junior Manx Youth Orchestra. Alice really enjoyed her Monday nights at chorus last year (particularly at the pub afterwards), and is really, really excited to be one of the managers this year! Don’t worry, Chorus is in good hands, because at high school Alice led her senior choir so she’s done this before! Already she has lots of ideas for the setlist for next year and is excited to get more chorus socials happening!
